We’re open for essential healthcare services during COVID-19

Apr 1 | News

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, MyHealth Centre has streamlined our services in accordance with Public Health Ontario’s guidelines. As our hard-working healthcare professionals continue to serve in the frontlines of this crisis, we have made the following changes in response to unprecedented events:

1. Reducing Hours of Operations

Effective March 30th, the hours of operation have been reduced at some of our clinics. The reduced capacity has resulted in some temporary closures. However, we continue to accept patients who are deemed to require urgent clinical assessments.

For the latest information about our clinic hours and services, please visit your local MyHealth Centre.

2. Focusing on Essential Services

All non-essential and elective services have been rescheduled to a later date. We have suspended all elective and surveillance clinical assessment and diagnostic testing in stable and/or asymptomatic patients. We are increasingly using telemedicine to provide medical consultations and follow-ups with patients.

We continue to offer the following services for essential patient appointments:

  • Cardiology Consultations
  • Echocardiography
  • Holter Monitoring
  • Nuclear Cardiology
  • Diagnostic Mammography
  • X-ray (Excludes Chest)
  • Ultrasound
  • Vascular Ultrasound
  • PET/CT

3. Standard Hygiene & Intense Cleaning

We continue to promote good hygiene at all our clinics by following stringent infection protection and control protocols. We have instructed our healthcare professionals to perform intense cleaning, which includes increasing the concentration of their disinfection solutions. We routinely practice touch-surface cleaning and wipe all surfaces in our exam rooms between every patient. Hand washing audits are conducted with our staff on a daily basis. Washing your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

4. Safety First – Entry Protocols

We have the responsibility to prioritize the health and safety of our patients and staff. As such, we are screening all patients who enter our clinics and rescheduling appointments for any patient who is suspected of having COVID-19. In accordance with Public Health guidelines, we are restricting entry of persons with cough or flu-like systems and those who have traveled recently.

5. Physical Distancing

We are avoiding all crowding and reducing contact in our waiting rooms. The chairs in our waiting rooms have been arranged to facilitate physical distancing. We have also implemented virtual and phone consultations for cardiology and gynecology patient follow-ups.

MyHealth Centre has 40 accredited diagnostic facilities in Ontario. Our experienced team of physicians and healthcare professionals provide exceptional, OHIP-covered cardiology and diagnostic imaging services, with shorter wait times, faster report turn-around, and the highest standard of patient care.
