Your risk for breast cancer increases as you age. In fact, approximately 80% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are over the age of 45.
That’s why the OBSP (Ontario Breast Screening Program) recommends women ages 40-74 who are at average risk for breast cancer refer themselves for OHIP-covered screening every two years.

The OBSP also recommends an annual screening for women ages 30-69 who are confirmed by their doctor or nurse practitioner to be at high risk for breast cancer.
